The Bada Valley itself is one of four important valleys in the Lore Lindu landscape. The others are the Napu, Besoa, and Lindu valleys. The Lore Lindu landscape is part of the Lore Lindu Biosphere Reserve, designated by UNESCO in 1977 as one of the four oldest biosphere reserves in Indonesia.
